Sparkling fish, mermaids and mystic seahorses

(Photograph) - Sparkling fish, mermaids and mystic seahorses are among the larger-than-life costumes created for the Chapeltown carnival in Leeds on the August bank holiday by children taking part in a two-week summer camp at the City of Leeds School. The five- to six-year-olds have also been honing their dancing skills in a series of workshops. Councillor Richard Harker, executive member for education at Leeds City Council, said, 'It's fantastic to see children and young people from all areas of central Leeds working so closely together and achieving so much. I know they're all really looking forward to the carnival.' Photo Lorne Campbell/Guzelian
