Special educational needs seminars

Pre-school centres have been praised for the support they offer to families of children with special educational needs in a series of seminars run by the Scottish Executive. The seminars explored reactions to the Executive's proposals for reforming legislation governing the education of children who need additional support, and drew a mixture of professionals, ranging from educational psychologists to support staff, as well as parents. Delegates broadly welcomed plans to include all children within the mainstream education system as far as possible, but were concerned about the financial implications.
