Position: New owner of Little Jems Nursery, Carlisle
- How did you made the transition from manager to nursery owner?
I made sure I got everything organised in order to make the change a lotsmoother. After working here for 20 years and the previous owner'sdecision to retire, I decided the time was right.
- Do you have any plans to change or develop the nursery?
I have no plans to make any major changes to the nursery and willcontinue with the existing development plan. I want to keep on top ofall the re-decoration and past improvements.
- How did you work your way up?
I always wanted to work in the care profession and after I left school Idid a YTS course. I worked at Little Jems as a student, and continued todo courses enabling me to work my way up to supervisor. Seven yearslater, I was appointed manager of the nursery after the owner wentpart-time. I have been really lucky that I had a really lovely boss andover the years worked with such a good team.
