- What is the Save our Catholic School campaign?
We are fighting against South Tyneside council's proposals to close StBede's primary school and its attached nursery school, where mydaughters are enrolled. The council wants to close the school in 2010because of surplus places. However, it is the only Catholic school inthe area. The council's plans make no sense as they would have to payfor new school buildings to be developed, so would not save money.
- What has the campaign involved?
We have collected almost 3,000 signatures in a petition against theclosures. We have organised a demonstration outside the town hall andheld meetings with local councillors and parish groups.
