Steiner celebrates 100 years in education

Steiner education celebrates its centenary this year with a conference open to everyone working in early years.

An international conference uniting early years practitioners from a range of approaches and disciplines will be held in East Sussex in October.

‘Working Together for Children in the 21st Century: exploring innovative practice in the early years’, organised by the Steiner Waldorf Schools Fellowship, is a one-day conference offering practitioners from across the early years community the opportunity to explore ideas such as play and movement, school starting age and digital technology.

Speakers will include Clara Aerts from the International Association of Steiner Waldorf Early Childhood Education, Wendy Ellyatt of the Save Childhood Movement, Barbara Isaacs, global ambassador of Montessori, and Helen Tovey, a member of the Froebel Trust Education Committee.

Janni Nicol, early childhood executive at Steiner Waldorf Schools Fellowship, said, ‘To celebrate 100 years of Steiner education, we decided to bring together colleagues from different disciplines and approaches who are concerned about the state of childhood today.

‘If you're interested in innovative practice in your own early childhood practice and meeting the needs of young children now and into the future, this is not to be missed as the speakers represent a wide variety of perspective and backgrounds.

‘All early years colleagues across the early years movement need to work together to develop innovative practice that truly meets the needs of young children now and into the future and make a stand to protect childhood.’
