Deborah Bright gained her BTec in 1995. She recalls, 'I come from a small village in Lincolnshire and there were no childcare jobs around at the time. I had worked very hard to get my BTec and was determined to get at least one nanny job, so I applied to some London agencies. After several interviews, I chose a job caring for a three-year-old boy and his baby sister. I went through an agency because if I was going to be in a new place miles away from family and friends, I wanted to be able to talk to someone if anything went wrong.
