Every year I visit colleges to talk to the students about career opportunities and to advise them on how to prepare themselves to find jobs.

Sometimes they want to know what became of the classes of previous years, so I looked up students from 2001, 2000 and 1999 to find out if they had any useful advice.

The nannies who live in London and those who were prepared to move there to live-in positions told me they were inundated with job offers before they even left college. I thought it would be more worthwhile to talk to those who wanted to work close to home and who live in parts of the country where there is not a huge demand for nannies.
