Thank Dolly for books

Country music star Dolly Parton is on a mission to improve children's literacy skills in the UK.

The American singer wants every child to develop a love of reading. She launched the Imagination Library in her Tennessee hometown in 1995, sending out a book each month to children from birth until they turn five. It has since been rolled out across the US and last week it crossed the Atlantic to Rotherham, south Yorkshire.

Ms Parton herself met children at launch events in Rotherham and London. Her Dollywood Foundation will manage the delivery system while the community pays for the books.
