School children will soon be getting up close and personal with shark teeth after Sea Life Centres mailed them out to 20,000 primary schools.
The teeth are shed naturally by the sharks.
The mailer is in partnership with international charity Shark Trust, and it is hoped to spark children’s interest in sharks and marine life in general.
Sea Life has also created a free shark-themed lesson planner, which is available to download from its website.
‘Sharks are amazing creatures with a fascinating biology that makes them ideal for delivering all kinds of learning,’ said Sea Life shark expert Darren Gook. ‘The different types of teeth can be looked at to discover respective functions of different species.’
