The Great British Wildflower Hunt 2018 has been launched by conservation charity Plantlife, with 21 new species to spot and a code of conduct on where and when you can pick wildflowers.

Last year, more than 15,200 wildflowers were spotted by participants, 15 per cent of whom said before they completed the hunt that they could not name any wildflowers.

This year, the charity has highlighted 12 of the 68 species included in the hunt that are so abundant they can be picked.

Plantlife’s vice-president Rachel de Thame said, ‘The Great British Wildflower Hunt, with its helpful ID tips, can give us all confidence to identify flowers and also provides Plantlife with much-needed information about how well they are doing.’
