The new Sector Skills Council

The new Sector Skills Council that will bring together those working in early years as well as children's social care was named last week as the Social Care, Children and Young People's Sector Skills Council. Paul Ennals, chief executive of the National Children's Bureau, will be the interim chairman of the Children, Young People and Families Workforce Council (CYPFWC), one of five councils in the federated SSC. His first tasks will include drawing together the alliance of employer interests within the new Council and establishing it under a shared vision, business plan and governance model. He will oversee the integration of the Council as a member of the emerging federated Social Care, Children and Young People's SSC. For the background to its formation, see page 6 in last week's issue of Nursery World.
