Things are sliding along nicely at Dundee Ice Arena

(Photograph) - Things are sliding along nicely at Dundee Ice Arena for children aged from 18 months to five years, who can now take classes in which they are encouraged to play with trikes, trolleys, balls, hoops, skittles and child-size hockey sticks. Very young children can be towed around in big plastic buckets or pushed on tractors by willing adults, while more confident children skate alongside their carers. As children progress in performance they will receive certificates and awards. The arena's general manager, Simon Newman, said, 'This is a fun event. A lot of children are quite frightened to go on the ice. This gives them confidence.' Photo Paul Reid
