* Three new children's centres opened during May in Dagenham, Essex. The centres offer a range of services including antenatal checks, baby clinics, childminding and counselling. The centres will also link up with the local Job Centre Plus to support parents to return to training or employment. Dagenham now has 11 children's centres, and the council plans to build three more by 2008.
