Five short stories from the collection Counting Stars by David Almond, the award-winning writer of Skellig, winner of the Whitbread Children's Book Award and the 1999 Carnegie Medal. The atmospheric, semi-autobiographical stories feature a young boy growing up in Felling near Newcastle, and have as their themes the acquisition of knowledge and the powerful bonds of family.
