In 1940, Hollywood's golden couple Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh had a quiet wedding on a boat, while others were caught in the Blitz.

At the turn of the 20th century, large families in Glasgow were crammed into damp, dark tenements on high rents. But in 1914, 20,000 women decided to refuse to pay their landlords. The Red Clydesiders, as they became known, changed the face of housing in Glasgow.
