Twinkles Nursery group's urban expansion

Provision Legislation
A nursery chain is celebrating adding a sixth site to its portfolio after planners approved the conversion of a former city centre office building.

Twinkles Nursery Group, which runs settings across Yorkshire, has been developing the plans for the central Leeds Civic Quarter location for two years.

The expansion will offer places for 60 children in the former offices of a law firm.

Managing director Jill Johnson, a former primary school teacher, said, ‘We already have a 108-place nursery in central Leeds and we’re hugely oversubscribed – we have about 130 children waiting.

‘We’ve been trying to find another location in the centre for about three years - there’s very little property that’s suitable or that can be converted.

‘It’s one we’ve been working on for quite some time. What with it being central Leeds, it’s had a number of planning issues, as you can imagine.’
