Two more groups bought by chain

One of the UK's biggest nursery chains has bought a further two nursery groups, bringing its total settings to 109. Bright Horizons Family Solutions has acquired Daisies Day Nurseries, a chain of five London settings, and Beehive Day Nurseries, a group of four in Warwickshire.

Bright Horizons Family Solutions has acquired Daisies Day Nurseries, a chain of five London settings, and Beehive Day Nurseries, a group of four in Warwickshire.

The deals were made for an undisclosed sum and increased the group's total number of childcare places to 6,133.

Both companies employ 85 members of staff.

The sale of Beehive included two 24-place out-of-school clubs in Kenilworth (24) and Warwick (24), adding to the 15 holiday playschemes already run by Bright Horizons.

General manager at Bright Horizons Ian Stocks said, 'We're very pleased with both of the acquisitions and they will be valuable additions to our portfolio. Over time they will become part of the Bright Horizons brand, but when we acquire nurseries the local name is something familiar to parents, so we tend to keep that going. We've also kept on the local staff and the original fees.'
