Two-thirds of children spend the majority of their time alone

Two-thirds of children spend the majority of their time alone instead of playing with friends, according to a survey by Mintel. Television and computer games are blamed in the survey for creating a nation of young loners. Only 36 per cent of parents regulate the time their children spend watching TV or playing on computers. Children in Yorkshire and the north-east are most likely to spend time indoors, while in Scotland more parents urge their children to play outside.
