This is one of the best books of its type that I have read for a long time. It has the rare characteristic of being useful to a wide range of workers within the fields of childcare and education - from students to fully-fledged practitioners.

It is presented in clear, jargon-free language, which explores theory and research and is illustrated with case studies and practical examples. There is an abundance of sound suggestions and ideas to put into practice in the setting. All of this information is put over in a very reader-friendly format, with excellent further reading lists at the end of every chapter. These have suggestions as to which texts will be of interest to which category of reader.
