Unfair competition

I am disappointed with and concerned about the National Day Nurseries Association, as I thought it had the interest of all nurseries foremost in its mind. In the feature 'On track?' (21 February) the NDNA says it is to open nine regional centres and that these will contain 50-place nurseries and out-of-school care facilities in competition with other members. I realise there will be other facilities available within these centres such as training areas, health and community centres, and office space for meetings, but has the NDNA thought about other nurseries and their members'

businesses in setting these regional centres up?

For example, where will the staff come from for a regional centre? There are not enough qualified staff at the moment to go around the nurseries. Staff who are training are usually working within the childcare sector already, while others are leaving for a better wage and less hassle.
