Two nursery schools in west London have been saved in what has been hailed as 'a landmark case' of value for money over cost per child.

Two nursery schools in west London have been saved in what has been hailed as 'a landmark case' of value for money over cost per child.

Maxilla and Ainsworth nursery schools, in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea, were to have been closed at the end of the year to save costs, and their children transferred to nursery classes in three local schools and another local nursery school. However, an independent schools adjudicator, Andrew Collier, ruled that 'the financial considerations have to be weighed against the quality of alternative provision, and the desirability of further integrating pre-school education and childcare services'.
