VCS Engage, review published

The voluntary sector's capacity to engage in the new commissioning framework of local authority contracts is the subject of a review published this week by VCS Engage. Sally Whitaker, VCS Engage programme director, said, 'There is a need for local authorities to make the process more understandable and accessible to voluntary and community sector organisations, but the VCS also needs help to develop the necessary skills and working practices so they can meet the new requirements.' In response to the review findings, VCS Engage will be running a free national training programme on winning commissions out of the nine Government regional offices in February and March 2008.
