Nursery World - Way to go Reggio

Having read Martin Pace's 'In my view' (18 March), I must say that I am in total agreement with his enthusiasm for the Reggio Emilia approach. I also attended the UK presentation led by educational consultants Linda Thornton and Pat Brunton that was held by Bracknell Forest Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership. I was fortunate that they extended their already long day to visit our neighbourhood nursery, the Family Tree.

Like Martin, I felt very inspired and as a result have successfully implemented many ideas within our nursery.

Practitioners need to be aware that the emphasis is on taking on and implementing elements of the Reggio approach within the confines of the individual environment, rather than attempting the impossible by bringing the Reggio concept in its entirety to Britain.
