With certain specific cash injections we could create centres to meet the needs of age groups instead of trying to use church buildings for purposes for which they were not designed. These premises have lots of space that needs developing appropriately. I challenge Nursery World readers to come up with a bigger buggy park than we have by using the church, which is linked to a church centre, for community use.
In supporting Jane's request, I would add that tremendous and wonderful work is being done in these adaptations by hardworking, gifted and dedicated leaders. The youth club trustees have done a brilliant job in providing a well-used youth centre, which was done piecemeal through grindingly hard fundraising and the amazing dedication of the leaders.
Superb work is often done in less-than-ideal circumstances. We need to make sure top-quality provision is available for all young people everywhere.
