A 'rock pool' (small inflatable paddling pool with pebbles, large shells and plastic sea creatures in it); a 'beach' (plastic sheet with rocks and shells on it); posters and photographs of shoreline creatures, such as shellfish, crabs, seaweed, sea anemones, sand hoppers, star fish, shrimps; fishing nets and sieves

Activity content

* Discuss the children's experiences of paddling in the sea and playing with wet and dry sand on the beach. Find out if they have any knowledge of waves and tides, and why the sand gets wet and dry over the course of a day.
