Winter strikes for nursery nurses

representative body, Cosla, had not improved on its recommendation to its members a few weeks ago of a pay rise of between 6.7 and 12.5 per cent, which Unison argued fell far short of recognising how nursery nurses' pay had fallen behind over the years and how their responsibilities in the job had grown.

Barbara Foubister, chair of the city of Edinburgh branch of Unison, said she now believed the action would continue into the winter. 'We are very angry. Colleagues say that this is the most solid action that they have seen in 20 years in local government. We are slow to boil - this has been going on for two years.
