The cover of the newly-published The Nanny Handbook: How to find and keep the best nannies and au pairs shows a child's drawing of a female figure with a big pink heart on her chest. This perhaps illustrates what author Karen House says is its attempt to include the perspectives of nannies, employers and children alike - a fresh approach in the nanny guidebook market. Karen and her co-author Louise Sheppard both work in human resources and personnel businesses, as well as having employed their share of nannies, so they have plenty of professional experience of interviewing job candidates and giving employment advice. When told that nannies found some guidebooks 'out of date', she agreed, and said that when she and Louise decided to write their book, this was one of the things that motivated them.
