A video and CD-Rom for parents and teachers

A video and CD-Rom for parents and teachers of children who have autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) are being distributed to all schools, libraries and other voluntary organisations in Northern Ireland. Both resources have been developed in partnership with Parents and Professionals and Autism (PAPA), the Department of Education and Science and the Irish Society for Autism. Gerry McGinn, permanent secretary at the education department, said, 'The video is intended to be one of the first sources of information for parents following their child's diagnosis of autism. The CD-ROM provides teachers and other early years childcare professionals with a basic outline of best practice in education provision for children with ASD.' For more details, contact PAPA on 028 9040 1729.
