Childcare Enterprise chain launches new nursery brand

The directors of nursery group Childcare Enterprise, which manages workplace and children's centre nurseries, are opening a new chain of settings under the name of Brunton Day Nursery.
Childcare Enterprise, which now manages seven nurseries, including for DEFRA and HM Land Registry, and a number of crèches across the country, will open its first nursery under the new brand of Brunton Day Nursery in September.
The purpose-built setting in Newcastle Great Park, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, was completed last month and funded by bank Santander. It will open for 52 weeks of the year and is registered to care for 66 children aged from birth to five.
The nursery has been designed to provide a lot of natural light with large windows, and each room has access to the outdoors, where an outdoor classroom is being built.
A mother and toddler group - Brunton Peaks - will also be run from the setting for children attending on a part-time basis.
Julia Wilcock, director of Brunton Nursery, said, ‘We have wanted to start a chain of nurseries for a long time, drawing on our experience of running community and workplace nurseries for over 15 years.
‘The market is changing for workplace nurseries and we need to be more flexible in our approach.’
In the last issue of Nursery Chains, Childcare Enterprise was listed as managing 11 nurseries, but several Land Registry settings have since closed or moved operator.
Ms Wilcock said the directors were inspired by the good practice of settings in Norway when they visited the country a few years ago.
She added that there has been a lot of interest in the nursery so far and it already has 60 children on its books.
