The Co-operative Childcare has renamed its Walsall nursery after refurbishing the setting.

The former Early Birds Nursery, which the Co-operative Childcare acquired last August, has been renamed-Walsall Wood Nursery, and undergone a £187,600 refurbishment to better reflect the high quality of early years education and childcare provided by the group.

As part of the refurbishment, the 50 place nursery, rated outstanding by Ofsted, has had its garden extended to give children more space for outdoor learning and play. The setting has also been equipped with new play and educational equipment.

To celebrate the setting’s relaunch, a signing and storytelling session was held at the nursery last week. The Mayor of Walsall councilor Dennis Anson also visited to perform the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Nursery manager Debbie Pritchard said, ‘The children thoroughly enjoyed our relaunch celebrations. We are delighted with the improvements made to our facilities.

‘The nursery was judged as outstanding in our latest Ofsted inspection and this investment underlines our commitment to maintaining those high standards.’

Just last week, the Co-operative Childcare, which operates 49 nurseries and two after-school clubs, announced it is to invest £550,000 to create a new flagship nursery in Bounds Green, Haringey.
