Funded places still available to start the New Year with EYPS

There is still time to sign up for the new Early Years Professional Status programme which kicks off in January 2012. Training providers across all regions currently have places available and candidates have until 30 December to submit their applications.

The new programme promises to continue momentum for the status which has now been achieved by more than 8,500 practitioners. The Children’s Workforce Development Council is providing 1,700 funded places for the January 2012 intake.

Carol Dewhurst, senior project manager, early years at CWDC, said, ‘Recruitment is progressing well and training providers have done a good job within a tight time-line.We are currently backing them up from a national perspective, working with partner organisations such as NDNA.’

EYPS pathways have been slimmed down from five to four for 2012, covering:

  • Graduate Practitioner Pathway (six months)
  • Undergraduate Practitioner Pathway (12 months)
  • Graduate Entry Pathway (12 months)
  • Undergraduate Entry Pathway (12 – 24 months)

The Eastern Leadership Centre, which will deliver the status in partnership with the University of East Anglia, University Campus Suffolk, the University of Hertfordshire and Pen Green Research Centre, has places available across all four pathways and is keen to hear from interested individuals.
