Incorporating learning into everyday

Wednesday, October 9, 2002

Incorporating learning into everyday family life is the focus of this weekend's Family Learning Weekend (11 to 13 October) co-ordinated by the Campaign for Learning. Day nurseries, schools and colleges will be opening their doors and offering families a chance to learn something new while having fun together. Events will range from sign language and storytelling to Indian cookery and drum making. Campaign manager Brioney Hurst said, 'Research shows that children learn more effectively when they have family support, particularly in the early, formative years. Family members may not be aware of the significance of their role and the campaign hopes this weekend helps apprehensive family members learn how they can support each other's learning.'
