Talk about spiders and reinforce your discussion by making a simple craft version of the creatures, and saying a rhyme.

Resources

Black card, buttons, black tissue, shearing elastic

Step by step

* Help the children to cut out black circles for the spider's body.

* Glue on the buttons for the eyes.

* Glue on eight tissue legs.

* Make a hole in the centre and thread through the elastic so it bounces.

* Say the following rhyme. The children will love to shout out the answer.

Have you seen me in the corner?

Have you found me in the bath?

Have you seen me run across the floor?

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 legs, I've got to run away

Can you tell me what I am - can you say?

We would love to hear your tip ideas!

Those we use will either win a copy of Dorling Kindersley's Jobs People Do or Celebration! Find our address, fax and phone number on page 3.
