The National Day Nurseries Association is holding a series of free events during the year with Ofsted.

The aim is to give all early years and childcare professionals the chance to hear more about the new Common Inspection Framework, which will come into force in September.

Ofsted representatives will give updates abot what the changes will mean for the early years sector.

NDNA’s chief executive Purnima Tanuku said, ‘We felt it was very important for the childcare sector to be able to hear from Ofsted and speak with them about the upcoming changes, so we agreed with Ofsted to open our events up to non-members at no charge.’

Ofsted early years director Nick Hudson said, ‘This is an exciting time for the early years sector. From September, inspections of nurseries and other early years settings will be carried out in line with the common inspection framework.

‘This will be a significant change, which will ensure an even more consistent approach to Ofsted inspections and make it easier for parents to compare different providers.’

There will also be speakers from HMRC on Tax-Free Childcare and the Department for Work and Pensions on Universal Credit, both due to start in the autumn.

Each event will be chaired by the NDNA’s regional trustee and the first will be held in Wolverhampton on 3 March. Other dates are:

  • 10 March, Yorkshire and Humber (Doncaster)
  • 17 March, North West (Bolton)
  • 19 March, East Midlands (Leicester)
  • 28 April, North East (Sunderland)
  • 24 September, London (Central)
  • 8 October, South West (Bournemouth)
  • 14 October, East England (Huntingdon)
  • 15 October, South East (Canterbury)

Talks will also take place in Scotland and Wales and all events are free of charge to both members and non-members.

Agendas for the Scotland and Wales events will be announced at a later date. Events will be held in Wales on April 21 (Cardiff) and November 3 (North Wales). For Scotland, the dates confirmed are April 29 (Edinburgh) and October 29 (Glasgow).
