Monitoring and evaluating Foundation Stage practice

This interactive course is for those responsible for leading or working with early years teams. Participants will consider what is involved in monitoring and evaluating Foundation Stage practice and demonstrate how statutory curriculum guidance can be used to support the process. They will undertake practical evaluation exercises and consider how best to help others develop their practice.

Healthy Eating in Schools conference: setting the standard for school food

This conference will explore how to implement the latest policy on school meals and non-meal food in order to meet the new standards for school food from September 2006. It will consider the need to establish a whole- school food policy before changing existing provision and discuss the guidance published by the School Food Trust to support schools and caterers to introduce the new lunch standards. Delegates will examine key examples of best practice in providing healthy school food and look at the impact of diet and nutrition on children's attendance, achievement and behaviour.

Developing a foundation stage unit: combining provision for nursery and reception age children.

For foundation stage practitioners working in or planning to develop Foundation Stage Units where nursery and reception are linked or combined.

Participants will explore the reasons for combining nursery and reception provision and consider a variety of models. They will discuss the development of one particular model, consider the principles involved in the development of combined provision for the foundation stage, and work with others to consider the issues and challenges faced by practitioners.
