Scottish Executive consultation extended

Wednesday, January 15, 2003

The Scottish Executive has extended to 28 February the time allowed for responses to a consultation on how best to improve children's dental health. Published in September, the consultation points out that more than 60 per cent of children from areas of severe deprivation have dental disease by the age of three, while 55 per cent of all Scottish children have dental disease by the age of five. The consultation seeks views on healthy eating and health promotion, enhancing dental services and alternative ways of using fluoride. Responses and requests for copies of the document should be sent to Sandra Smith, Public Health Policy 1.1, 3E(S), St Andrew's House, Regent Road, Edinburgh, EH1 3DG., or e-mailed to childrensoralhealth@scotland.gsi.gov.uk.
