Name: Caroline Young

Position: Business and finance manager at Rosy Apple childcare

Were you surprised to be named as a winner of the 2012 National Apprenticeship Service's Awards, in the category of Advanced Level Apprentice of the Year North-West?

Being named a winner was overwhelming. I was pleased just to be nominated by my training provider Training 2000. In the six years I have worked at Rosy Apple Childcare I have achieved an NVQ Level 2 and 3 in business administration and a Level 2, 3 and 4 AAT accounting qualification.

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are a great way to start a career and I've been able to gain qualifications while working and earning a salary.

What are your future plans?

As a regional winner I am automatically entered into the National Awards, which take place on 14 November in Birmingham. While I am planning on taking a break from studying for now, in the future I hope to complete a degree in business and finance.
