Spotlight on ... Jo Brock and Heidi Bingham

Position: Owners of The Ark Private Day Nursery in Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire

- What was the purpose of your trip to India?

It was two-fold. We had been asked to help the Anganwadi Playgroup and deliver a seminar to around 70 childcare settings to talk about the importance of play. However, after seeing the sorry state the playgroup was in, we decided to help transform the setting and fundraise when we returned home.

- How did it all come about?

We were approached by trustees of the charity Hope Community Village, who provide accommodation and education for children without families in India. We designated 2011 as our Year of Giving.

- How much do you hope to raise for the Anganwadi Playgroup, now renamed Sunshine House?

We have an initial target of £1,500, which will pay for essential works as well as painting and resources. We hope to support Sunshine House into the future and help sustain them.
