Spotlight on ... Lynn Greenslade, Yate Childminding Group

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Name: Lynn Greenslade.

Position: Yate Childminding Group in South Gloucestershire

- Why did you decide to take part in Cancer Research UK's Relay for Life

The event is a culmination of fundraisers that our relay team Girls Allowed have held throughout the year for Cancer Research. We set up the group in 2008 in memory of family and friends lost to cancer. After losing our team member Vanessa Dye to the disease two years ago we have become all the more determined.

- What does the day involve?

The event is a celebration with camping and entertainment. Teams walk or run around a track at the outdoor sports complex over 24 hours, with one member of each team on the track at all times. We will also hold a stall selling balloons for a balloon race.

- How many people are in the team?

There are 15 of us, including childminders, ex-childminders, parents and children who were minded. We raised over £4,500 last year and are hoping to beat that this year.

Further information The event takes place at Yate Outdoor Sports Complex on Saturday 3 July. www.donatetomyrelay.org/girlsallowedteam
