GOING WILD

Tuesday, April 30, 2024

Children from Kayte’s House, a childminding service in Coggeshall, wrote to the Parish Council to ask them to stop mowing the verges in the park where wildflowers grow.

The council agreed and asked the children to design some signs to explain to people why it is important not to mow in early spring.

The setting said the verges are now ‘awash with a huge variety of native flowers such as dandelions, daisies, purple dead nettles and borage’. They are now visiting the area twice a week to record the numbers and observe how it changes.
