Storyteller John Coates, a presenter from BBC Radio Devon, reads with Jenny Clayton and her children Jack and Chloe on the BBC Education (RaW) Family Learning Bus at Whipton Children's Centre in Exeter. (Photograph) - A group of learning support assistants from London were presented with certificates at a celebratory lunch for being the first group to complete Westminster Children's Society's pilot project in basic training to support children with special educational needs. The six-week programme, funded by Westminster EYDCP, aims to fill a gap in provision by creating a pool of trained LSAs to work with children with special educational needs in private and voluntary early years settings. * The National Childminding Association's three-year, Government-funded pilot Teen Parent Project, which has provided free childcare for teenage parents to continue their education, training or work, ends next month. But projects will continue in north-east Lincolnshire, Blackpool, Greenwich, and Barking and Dagenham in Essex. Local authorities in those areas will fund network co-ordinators and teenage parents will be eligible for the Government's 'Care to learn?'
