Anew project in a deprived area of Edinburgh is aiming to support the parents who may be the most likely to slip through the care net -single fathers. Run collaboratively by One Parent Families Scotland and Gilmerton Children's Centre, the Lone Fathers project will run outings for fathers and children to venues such as adventure playgrounds and swimming pools. It has attracted about 3,500 Sure Start funding, which project worker Jimmy Donald described as 'phenomenal'.
