The Inspection Journey: Part 1 - Take a look at yourself

The best route to an inspection starts with reflection on your setting's principles and practice, say Laura Henry and Beth Harris, as they launch a new series by examining the components of quality

Within this series we aim to take you on an inspection journey and link inspections into the continuous improvement of your setting. There are many different stages of this journey. Even if your setting has been seen under the new inspection process, it is important that it regularly carries out a robust review to maintain and enhance practice.

We will be unpicking the self-evaluation process and the role that children and parents play within this. We will show how to link your practice directly to all the supporting inspection documentation and highlight how your self-evaluation and improvement plans can be used to support good practice and identify areas for improvement. Throughout the series we will emphasise the importance of whole staff involvement and the role that individual staff members play within the process.
