4Children to run nine new centres

The charity 4Children is to set up and run nine flagship children's centres catering for children from nought to 16 as part of its new regional development strategy. Working in partnership with local authorities in each of the nine UK Government office regions, 4Children will provide all the core children's centre services - early years provision, integrated services and parenting support - and it will also focus on youth provision for five- to 16-year-olds.

Anne Longfield, chief executive of 4Children, said, 'The main aim is to provide a continuum of integration across the age ranges. There's still some dislocation in the delivery of services for nought to 16-year-olds and we want to develop a model of good practice that integrates and co-ordinates all services for under-fives, over-fives, primary and secondary school children.'
