A broader view

Another new enterprise busily recruiting is Nannies Abroad, now placing childcarers in ski or sun resorts around Europe. The company offers staff the chance to start or continue NVQs in childcare while on the job abroad. Ashanti Dickson, who also runs her own nursery in Hampshire and another in the French Alps, says, 'Our aim is that when staff come back to the UKthey have achieved a higher qualification than when they went out, so they are able to find a better job when they decide to stop travelling.' She says Nannies Abroad has a duty of care to the people it places as they are its own employees and not those of the agency's clients. It employs both qualified and unqualified nannies, as long as they have a minimum of one year's full-time experience, and all the staff are trained in first aid.
