A month in the life of Jasmine Maya

As Jasmine approached eight months she attended her developmental check with her health visitor. She was declared healthy and developing well, although still small for her age and birth weight, being just above the 2nd centile at 6.69kg (14lb 12 1/2oz). Jasmine's mobility has increased greatly during this month. She is crawling well in all directions and is able to sit herself up from a crawling position. She is occasionally seen 'bear walking' on her hands and feet too.

Vocally, Jasmine has added the sounds 'bababa' and 'ayoh' to her vocabulary. She is very vocal now, making a huge range of sounds at different pitches, and discovering the pleasure of squealing high and loud, laughing to herself as she listens.

Jasmine currently prefers finger foods to being spoon-fed, and her mother now presents her meals in small, soft pieces, which she can handle well. Having always been breast-fed, Jasmine has refused water in a bottle, and until now has not coped well with a cup, but she has finally mastered the skill of drinking water from her beaker and drinks quite well with her meals.
