A problem shared

A thought occurred to me as I was reading the article about nursery managers having to choose between giving fruit or milk to children in their care under the Healthy Start plan (News, 29 July). Why can't the milk and fruit be shared? It does not take a rocket scientist to work out that if two children share the food, each child would then get a sixth of a pint of milk and half a piece of fruit. Problem solved!

Or is that too simple a task for the bureaucrats in the Health Department to work out?
