Monday
Mondays always start with the smell of burnt toast. Parents who have done the school run, or are waiting for the creche to open so they can access the adult education courses, are greeted with tea and toast.
No sooner have we cleared up the crumbs from the toast, than the nursery children from the school across the road pay a visit to return their library books. When they have each chosen a book and stamped it, we settle on the carpet for a storytime session.
After, we take a look at the 'poorlies' - the children with cuts or bruises on their knees - and we often find that when one child starts, they all want a slice of the attention. We have a lovely storytime finishing with Mr Wiggle and Mr Waggle, and then they troop off back to school.
