An Aberdeenshire project

An Aberdeenshire project has successfully steered 17 people from Huntly and Peterhead through a nine-week orientation programme designed to prepare them for further education or employment in childcare. The programme was delivered by the Scottish Childminding Association, Workers Education Association and Banff & Buchan College and supported by the European Social Fund. Katy Wright, the childcare strategy training officer for Aberdeenshire childcare partnership, said, 'This has been an extraordinarily successful partnership. The knowledge and confidence gained by the participants has enabled them to pursue further training and employment. Two women are now going on to childminding pre-registration training and another is going the SVQ route.'
