I think the Government's plans to enhance the role of classroom assistants (News, 22 November) will encourage schools to employ classroom assistants instead of qualified nursery nurses because they are less expensive to employ. Qualified nursery nurses are working as classroom assistants in my area already and they have little chance of working and being paid for the job they trained for.
